PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) Initial
This course is designed to provide the healthcare professional with the skills of assessing and treating cardiovascular emergencies in Infants, Children and Adolescents. The course covers high quality CPR, management of respiratory emergencies, rhythm disturbances and more. The course is intended for physicians, nurses, paramedics and medical professionals who respond to pediatric emergencies in and out of the hospital. There is a written and skill test that must be passed in order to receive a completion card. The initial course offers 14 Advanced CE Hours.

CPR (Basic Life Support) Heatlhcare Provider
This course is designed to provide healthcare professionals with the skills of one and two rescuer CPR/AED for the Adult, Child and Infant in accordance with the American Heart Association guidelines.  The course is intended for physicians, nurses, paramedics and any medical professionals who require CPR.  There is a written and skill test that must be passed in order to receive a completion card.  Student manuals for the class may be ordered at www.laerdal.com and use item #90-1038.

PHTLS (Pre Hospital Trauma Life Support)

PHTLS teaches knowledge that includes an understanding of anatomy and physiology, patient care skills and the limitations of time and blood loss, and the need to get the patient to the operating room as quickly as possible. The student will use critical thinking skills to make and carry out decisions that will enhance the survival of the trauma patient. The PHTLS course is based on the Advanced Trauma Life Support course for physicians developed by the American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma. Therefore, it follows the principles of care of trauma patients as developed by the Committee on Trauma to assure a consistent team approach to the trauma patient.

The PHTLS Provider course is a 2 day (16hr) course designed to provide the practicing prehospital care provider with a specific body of knowledge related to prehospital assessment and care of the adult and pediatric trauma patient. The course presents interactive scenario based lectures with hands on physical assessment of patients and practice of trauma skills.

The PHTLS Refresher course is a 1 day (8hr) course designed to provide the current PHTLS provider with an update on the prehospital adult and pediatric trauma patient treatment. The course presents interactive scenario based lectures with hands on physical assessment of patients and practice of trauma skills.

Prerequisites: First Responder, EMT-B, EMT-Paramedic, RN.
Refresher courses must possess a PHTLS or ITLS provider status.
Precourse preparation is necessary for successful completion of the course, and includes access to the current PHTLS 8
th Edition Textbook and completion of a pretest.

Successful completion of the program consists of the following:

-                      Attendance at both days of the course

-                      A score of 76% or better on the written exam final.

-                      Proficiency at the skills testing stations

Upon successful completion, a PHTLS certification and card will be issued for a four year period.
